I have just finalized the arrangements to rent a flat in the Darlinghust section of Sydney! I couldn’t be happier with the location and the owners seem like really, really nice people too. It seems to be exactly what I wanted at a price that is substantially lower than what I anticipated the cost would be. I will “move in” on December 11th after a few nights in a hotel. I arrive in Sydney on the 7th.
The flat is located in the Darlinghurst area of Sydney. Darlinghurst is an inner-Sydney suburb that sits between Kings Cross/Potts Point (fine dining and casual cafes aplenty, as well as Sydney’s harmless “red light district”) and Surry Hills (more great dining, shopping and theatre), Paddington (more great food, superb private art galleries, excellent upmarket shopping) and East Sydney/CBD (“the city” – with Circular Quay, the Opera House the art gallery, museums, theatres etc all an easy 10-25 min walk depending on where you’re heading). Public transport abounds too.
Both the owners, Tanya and Trent, are involved in the theatre and Tanya is currently in Munich working on a production for the Muncher Kammerspiele Theatre Company. Trent will be joining her there leaving the apartment vacant.
I will stay here until I leave Australia for Singapore on January 20th.
